Merrick Recall

A quick note about the most recent recalls in the pet industry.

First, there is the Merrick Recall of 86 cases of their 10oz bags of Beef Filet Squares.  So far, there have been no related illnesses reported, but this lot has been found to “have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella”. Any good pet shop should let you return them, opened or unopened.

Secondly, Ohio based United Pet Group has recalled an extensive list of supplements produced under a wide variety of labels due to possible salmonella contamination. Check the list and stop feeding the supplement immediately.

If your pet has consumed any of these products, be sure to keep a careful eye on their health and behavior.  Symptoms to watch for include diarrhea(sometimes bloody), vomiting, fever, lethargy, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain.

It can be a scary thing to hear that something you thought was healthy for your pet may now be something that will make them sick. Keep in mind that both of these recalls are precautionary, and again, there have been no known cases of illness.  Keeping calm will help you be a better judge of a situation and will help keep your pet calm too.
